The problem is that there is a veritable rainbow of foods that most states claim as their signature dishes,

which provides an abundance of fodder for argument and controversy.

Along with its signature crispy, meaty fried catfish, Mississippi is famous for its creamy chocolate mud pie and shrimp and grits.

We get nut-laden cake, fruit cobbler, fresh curds, elk and beef jerky,

and a plethora of other delectable foods from the abundant crops in many states.

The Juicy Lucy, bierocks, and chocolate gravy, on the other hand, appear to have remained unchanged.
