Gentle Yoga - Sept 5.

Good for beginner to intermediate. Class will offer modifications as well as more advanced poses to suit your needs for that day. You will be encouraged to use your breath to move in and out of poses and at your own pace. The certified yoga instructor is Monica Cyr.

Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays at 6:00 pm & Saturdays at 8:00 am from September 5 - December 3. The twelve-week program fee is $90. Walk-in fee $5 per class. in June.

Aerobics - Sept. 10

The next Aerobics session will start Monday, September 10 thru October 31. This program is offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 pm, classes are for one hour combined aerobics/toning class. This is an active coed exercise program led by NDEITA trained volunteers. The cost per session is $25.

Zumba - Sept. 13

Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance-fitness cardio-based workout that with incorporated sculpting exercises tones the entire body top to bottom. The instructor for this class is Marissa Olivier. This 4-week class will be held 6:30 - 7:15 pm on Thursday, Sept 13 and then the next three Tuesdays, Sept 18, 25 and Oct 2. The fee is $28. Next session begins in October.

Sprightly Field Hockey - Sept 17.

Our goal is to teach girls the game of field hockey and encourage them to find joy in sports. Most of our athletes have never played field hockey so we will start with basic skills and rules. We will add to their knowledge each practice via drills, games, and scrimmages. This team will foster positivity, fun and encouragement as we all learn.

We are a brand-new organization! We hope girls in Raymond and the surrounding towns are just as excited to play field hockey as we are! Jessie Akelian will be coaching field hockey and has been playing field hockey since the 7th grade. Jessie coaches Girls on the Run in Raymond and will be coaching field hockey at Sanborn this fall.

Field hockey will be Mondays and Wednesdays from September 17th through October 17th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. The cost of the program is $75. Sticks and goggles are available to borrow. T-shirts and mouth guards will be provided. Sign up on-line at sprightlyathletics.weebly.com or at Raymond Recreation. The last day to register is Sept. 14th.

Raymond Youth Basketball Meeting - Sept 18

RYBA will tip-off the season with a planning meeting on Tuesday, September 18. The meeting will be held at 6:45 pm in room 207 at RHS. Anyone interested in youth basketball is encouraged to attend. Last year's coaches and directors - please make every effort to attend.

Mini Sports - Sept 20

Raymond Recreation will be holding a Mini Sports Program for 3 to 5 year olds (must be 3 by start of program). This program is an introduction into sports, and to have fun. Each week we'll focus on a variety of sports & games.

Mini sports will be Thursdays beginning September 20th from 10:00 - 10:45 am. The fee for the 4-week program is $25. Sign up early, space is limited.

PickleBall - Sept 20

Raymond Recreation is offering a 6-week session of pickleball for adults & seniors. Pickleball will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday evenings from September 20 - October 25.

What is pickleball?? To me it's like a combination of tennis and ping pong. An added bonus, you'll have so much fun you won't notice you're getting a great workout. Beginners welcome. Bring your own paddle or we have some available. The fee for this program is $25. Pre-registration is required.

Beginning Watercolors - Sept 26

Watercolor painting is fun and exciting. Learn to paint through the exploration of basic techniques. Watercolor offers many possibilities for creative expression. You can work fast and loose or controlled and detailed. Watercolor is easy way to explore and it's easy to clean up. The transparency of the paint makes for luminous work of art! Cyndy Pinard is the instructor for watercolors

The 6-week beginning watercolors class will be on Wednesdays, September 26th through October 31st from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Class is open to pre-teens through adults.

The cost is $40.00 which includes all materials. Class is limited so sign up today at Raymond Recreation or call 895-7031 for more information. Look for intermediate watercolors to begin in November.

East Coast Swing Dancing - Oct. 2

East Coast Swing (ECS) is a form of social partner dance. It belongs to the group of swing dances. We will dance to fast swing music, including rock and roll and boogie-woogie. This dance was originated from the lindy hop and its main characteristic is the "triple steps" and "rock steps" used throughout the moves.

The course will begin with the basics and progress with increasing complexity, adding week by week to the overall repertoire of ECS steps and moves. By the end of this course students should be able to perform a multitude of East Coast Swing steps and moves with confidence in a social dance environment.

The instructor of East Coast Swing Dancing is Mark Pawlik. Mark has been studying ballroom dance for over 4 years. Engineer by day, dancer by night he loves to burn up the dance floor at local venues in southern NH. He has performed at numerous showcases, local events and competitions.

This 10-week course will be held on Tuesday evenings from October 2nd to December 4th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The fee for the 10-week course is $40 for single or $60 per couple. Non-residents pay an additional $5.

Fall Swim - Oct. 6

Raymond Recreation is offering a five-week swim program for children ages 4 and up. Swim lessons will be held with certified water safety instructors at the Portsmouth Recreation indoor pool. Classes will be on Saturdays, from October 6th through November 3rd.

The price for the five-week session is $75. The fee includes lessons, free swim time and bus transportation. The bus times will be 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Space is very limited. Deadline to sign up is October 3rd.

Kids Clay Creations - Oct. 10

Join To Your Art's Content as we teach kids how to create a different seasonal project each month! Each student will learn how to sculpt, mold & paint their own masterpiece. Ceramic art will then be fired in To Your Art's Content kiln and returned to Raymond Recreation for pick up about 14 days later. To Your Art's Content is a mobile Art Studio bringing you fired Ceramics, Glass Fusing, Clay and more!

This class will be held for students in grades 1-4 on Thursday, October 10th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm where we will make a clay pumpkin. We will hold a different class on the 2nd Thursday of each month all school year. (Upcoming classes: Nov. 8th, *Dec. 6th, Jan. 10th). The cost for each class is $20.00 which includes all materials. Raymond Recreation's 31st Annual Halloween Part- Oct. 27

Raymond Recreation will host the 31st Annual Halloween Party on October 27st from 5 to 7 pm at Raymond High School. We will have lots of fun games and activities and a haunted house. Don't miss our costume parades with prizes awarded in different age groups (arrive by 5:20 pm to be included in the contest). The event is free for everyone, donations are welcome. Look for more detailed information in October. We need volunteers to help with games, concessions and judging!! Please contact Raymond Rec @ 895-7031, if you would like to help out.

SAFE SITTER® Babysitting Course - Nov. 3

As a babysitter, your child needs to learn how to safely care for younger children before they offer to babysit. The Babysitting Course will provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. Babysitting classes are offered to student's who are age 11 and older. The instructors for this course are all SAFE SITTER® Certified.

This 1-day course will be held on Saturday, November 3rd from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. A completion card is given to students at the end of the class. The fee for this course is $55.

Learn Quilting Techniques

Make your own wall hanging and learn different kinds of quilting techniques. We will show you short cuts for piecing blocks also how to paper piece, applique, quilt, bind and press. You will need to bring a sewing machine with a ¼ inch presser foot attachment (a complete list of other supplies will be handed out when you register).

Raymond Youth Basketball Program Breakdown
1st & 2nd Grade Program

This instructional program will begin on November 10th and run until January 12 (no sessions on 11/24 or 12/29). This program will be held in 1.5-hour sessions on Saturdays between 9 am - noon. Coaches are needed, players from the high school teams assist with this program.

3rd & 4th Grade Program
Evaluations will be on Sunday, November 11th at RHS. This group will begin practicing in November, have a jamboree in December and begin games in January. Most games will be held on Saturdays. Games will be played at the Gove Middle School or away at gyms in local towns.

5th & 6th And 7th & 8th

This, competitive program, will hold evaluations at RHS on Sunday, November 11th. They will begin practicing following evaluations and games will be held on Saturdays and Sundays beginning in December. The season wraps up with a fantastic February Frenzee Tournament.

Registration fees per child are:
1st & 2nd grade program $40.00
3rd & 4th grade program $55.00
5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade $80.00
* Take $10 off each additional child per family
Registrations have begun. You may register at Raymond Recreation during office hours.
Anyone registering after November 7th will be placed on a waiting list and an additional fee of $10 per child will be charged if there is space available on a team.

Basketball Skills Clinics

RYBA is again offering pre-season skills clinics for all competitive age groups. Clinics will be held at the Gove Middle School gym on Sept. 13, 20 & 27. Times: 5:30-7:00 pm for grades 3 - 6 and 7:00-8:30 for grades 7 & 8. The fee is $2 per night. Skills clinics are open to all boys & girls in grades 3&4, 5&6, & 7&8.

All players in grades 3 through 8 are required to attend evaluations. Evaluations will be held at Raymond High School. Below is a complete schedule of the evaluations.
