Are you looking for a fun family friendly outdoor event that everyone can get involved with? Then you don't want to miss the Om-a-Can-Can-oe Pedal Paddle Run Triathlon on Saturday Sept. 8 in Raymond, NH. The course is designed for all ages and varying abilities.

Friends of Raymond Recreation have mapped out a really fun 5K pedal route around Riverside Park on Sundeen Parkway, a 2K paddle route around Carol Lake on the Lamprey River at the Lamprey River Elementary School and a 3K trail run out on the Rockingham Recreation Rail Trail.

On site registration begins at 7:30 am at the Lamprey River Elementary School, Old Manchester Rd, off route 101 exit 5. Race starts at 9:00 am.

Join in the fun, rain or shine, to participate in all three events or just one part of the triathlon with the entire family or split up into a team with one member doing each leg. Bring your mountain bike, running shoes and canoe or kayak or any human powered watercraft to join in fun. Registration begins at 7:30 am.

The triathlon will begin with the bike route at 9:00 am starting from the Lamprey River Elementary School heading out to the Riverside Park trail and return to the school. The second leg will be an easy flat run out the Rockingham Recreational Trail and back to the Carrol Beach. The last leg of the triathlon, you will jump into your canoe or kayak and paddle around Caroll Lake in the Lamprey River to the finish.

The cost for the Triathlon is:
$20 Individual Adult (18 and over),
$10 Individual Teen (13 - 18),
$5 Individual Youth (12 and under)
$30 Relay Team of Adults,
$20 Relay Team of Teens
$10 Relay Team of Youth.

Participants MUST wear helmuts on bikes and life jackets in water-craft.

Application and Liability Waver Forms MUST be signed and submitted.

Free T-shirts will be available to the first 25 registrants and one Free Raffle ticket will be given to each participant for the raffles.

Additional raffle tickets may be purchased for $5.00 each.

The original idea behind the triathlon was from Greg Bemis, who wanted a fun event for the entire family to participate in and enjoy while also raising funds for the canoe/kayak launch on the Lamprey River.

Other activities that day include:

Touch-A-Truck will be setup at the Lamprey River Elementary School from 10 am to 12 pm.

The Raymond Historical Society is hosting a Chili Cookoff on the common as well.

The American Legion Car Show is being held downtown with cars parked around the town common from 10 am to 4 pm.
