New Hampshire Electric Co-op Foundation Awards Grant to Reach High Scholars Program   10-29-18

Reach High Scholars Program (RHSP) announced that they received a $5,000 grant in August from The New Hampshire Electric Co-op Foundation (NHEC Foundation).

The grant will encourage students in the Raymond, New Hampshire public school district to “reach higher” in their educational pursuits.

The grant will help fund a range of intellectually enriching and college-readiness programs offered by RHSP at no cost to taxpayers or the school district. In the past 10 years, RHSP has enabled 48 Raymond students to attend highly-competitive colleges through considerable need-based financial aid, with grants up to $62,000 a year.

The NHEC Foundation grant will support three RHSP initiatives, including Raymond Roundtables, a summer academic enrichment program for 7th-9th graders. The grant will also support the PSAT and SAT Boot Camps, which offer more standardized test preparation than is available at any other high school in northern New England.

These courses are offered at very low prices, with further reductions based on financial need. The NHEC Foundation grant will also help offset costs associated with college visits, which helps students familiarize themselves with the campus, curriculum and staff.

The NHEC Foundation provides grants to non-profit and charitable organizations throughout NHEC’s service territory. Since 2006 the Foundation has granted more than $3 million to organizations throughout NHEC’s service area. The work of the Foundation is made possible thanks to NHEC members who round up their electric bill each month. Never before has man had such a great capacity to control his own environment, to end hunger, poverty and disease, to banish illiteracy and human misery.

We have the power to make the best generation of mankind in the history of the world.
