Raymond Tax Payers Face Tax Rate Increase
by Penny Williams    11-11-14

Raymond taxpayers weren’t happy when they opened their tax bills last week. The overall tax rate increased by 2.9 percent to $24.33 per $1,000 over last year’s rate of $23.64.

This means taxpayers will be paying an additional 69 cents per $1,000 of valuation.

The breakdown of the tax rate shows that the increase came mostly in the school district tax portion, which was $13.79 per $1,000 last year and rose to $14.42 this year.

The Town portion of the bill also went up slightly, going from $6.38 last year to $6.52 this year.

The County tax portion remain unchanged from last year at $1.03 per $1,000, and the State Education portion of the overall tax rate decreased slightly from $2.44 last year down to $2.36 this year.

Tax bills have already been sent and delivered and taxpayers have 30 days from the date of mailing to pay them.
