Rock Your Body Fitness Center Tries for World Record
By Penny Williams 12-26-16
Rock Your Body Fitness Center in Fremont is a busy and growing physical fitness center that focuses on its clients, always encouraging them to do the best they can to achieve fitness. To that end, owner Sara Cloutier has decided to try and set a new Guinness World Record to add a little more motivation and fun to the business of getting fit.
She said Rock Your Body Fitness Center will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the World’s Longest Fitness Class.
Cloutier said, "We always encourage our clients to set the bar high, step out of their comfort zone and continue to challenge themselves. We love to do ‘out of the box’ events to bring the community together. And fitness is a fun way to work together."
Cloutier said this challenge fits perfectly into the overall Rock Your Body Fitness Center atmosphere. "At Rock Your Body, we always say it is the place for every body," she said. "No one should feel that they can’t do something or compare themselves to someone else. This challenge is another way for us to work together with our members and our community to show nothing is impossible."
The challenge also complements her fitness philosophy and goals by underlining the desire to lead a happy, healthy life. "It is not a destination, there are no finish lines, so it is important to have a blast along the way," she said.
"The current record holder is from the United Kingdom and holds the record at 38 hours and 20 minutes," she said. "We are attempting 41 hours. We are starting at 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, and finishing on New Year's Eve as the clock strikes 12 midnight."
Cloutier is hoping to complete 40 hours as a minimum but will be going for the full 41 hours.
"It will take myself instructing a minimum of 10 people for the whole attempt," she said. "Then we all become record holders. Anyone is welcome to join us for some or all of the class. We also need witnesses and timekeepers for our attempt. These people will have to commit to a four-hour block and basically just watch us to make sure we continue to move.”
When Rock Your Body Fitness Center opened in 2013, Cloutier had three instructors and one fitness studio. The business has grown substantially and now has 21 instructors and babysitters and three fitness studios with over 60 classes each week. Rock Your Body offers group fitness, small group personal training and one-to-one personal training. Classes start at 5:15 a.m. and are also offered mid-mornings and evenings, and childcare is offered. Classes include yoga, TRX, Zumba, Step to Pop Pilates, body combat, body pump, Fight Club, P90X and Insanity.
"We are very excited to expand our group cycling program as well." Cloutier said. "We have 20 additional state-of-the-art cycling bikes arriving and will be offering spinning classes seven days a week."
Fitness for a healthy life is what the business is all about, Cloutier said, adding that enjoying it and finding the motivation to pursue it are all part of what she offers her clients - and to be part of a Guinness World Record would be an added extra of pride and pleasure.Rock Your Body Fitness is at 25 Spaulding Road, Unit 14, in Fremont.
An outstanding place to achieve the goal of fitness, run by someone who understands the motivation to get fit and who has created programs to meet a variety of paths to reaching fitness, can be found at Rock Your Body in Fremont.
Owner Sara Cloutier has worked hard at growing her business. Her fitness center opened in June 2013 with 1,200 square feet of studio space, but a year later she opened an additional studio at the same location. Now she has three studios, over 6,000 square feet of space, and child care available for all classes but the very earliest. She offers up to three different types of classes at the same time."
"We can now accommodate over 100 people at a time working out, compared to just the 35 when we opened," she said.
Rock Your Body came into being as a result of Cloutier's own struggles with fitness. She understands where many seeking fitness are coming from and helps her staff understand the motivations, struggles, and difficulties many of her clients face. Fitness is physical, she said, but noted the mind and soul are involved as well, and her business reflects this understanding.
"I struggled with my weight my whole life," she said. "I didn't start working out until about 10 years ago and with much determination I lost 100-plus pounds. I found my way into a Zumba class and was instantly hooked when I saw results, but was still having a blast. Six months later I became an instructor myself and have continued to further my education with new certifications and formats."
Rock Your Body offers a variety of programs and classes, ranging from TRX suspension training to Zumba, kickboxing to yoga, and spinning to Bodypump. The classes are all suitable for beginners to advanced athletes. When someone starts a class, the instructor will discuss the client's fitness goals and make recommendations on the best plan to achieve them.
"During the week we open at 5:15 a.m. and our last class is at 7:30 p.m.,” Cloutier said. “We are open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays and from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. Our schedule is determined by the wants and needs of our members. We are always open to suggestions and feedback, but I try my best to make a schedule that can accommodate everyone."
Rock Your Body has 12 instructor/trainers. All are licensed and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certified. Some trainings require specific certifications and all of the instructors carry those.
Cloutier is certified in all formats of Zumba, RIPPED, TRX, Booty Barre, Barre Boston, TurboKick, PiYO, P90X Personal Trainer, P90X Live, Insanity, Punk Rope, and RiPPED 4 kids, she said.
The business owner is also involved in the community. “I travel to local schools and daycares and do free classes for the kids,” she said. “We also do a free fun run on Sunday mornings. We do a lot of local 5Ks and we have a team of members from Rock Your Body doing the Thunder Run in Epping."
Babysitting is available for all classes except the 5:15 a.m. sessions. Rock Your Body also rents its studios for private events and birthday parties.
"We can be available to host your birthday party or you can just pay to use the space," she said. "Tables and chairs are available as well."
Many gyms or workout establishments can be intimidating but Rock Your Body works at making its atmosphere both fun and non-intimidating.
"Rock Your Body is a fun atmosphere and very supportive," Cloutier said. "We have people of all ages, sizes, and abilities. It has become a family of a sort and we have coined the phrase 'Rock Your Body is for every body!' It is not uncommon to see a 23-year-old man working out next to a 68-year-old woman. We all have goals."
While claiming that her prices "are the best around," Cloutier said she offers discounts on unlimited monthly membership, a 10/20 class pass for those looking to attend once or twice a week, and a drop-in rate for those not wanting to make a commitment. “We do not have a contract so there is no risk to anyone,” she added.
“What sets us apart from many other places are our instructors,” she concluded. “It is all about our members and making them successful. We want everyone to feel comfortable. We want to know our clients’ names and goals, and it is our commitment to each that we do our best to make sure each and every one achieves those goals in a fun, safe way.
"Fitness does not have a finish line," she added. "It is a life-long journey. You have to keep it fun and mix it up. If you are not seeing the results you want or you are not looking forward to working out, then it is time to try a different classes. You have to push out of your comfort zone and keep challenging yourself. If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you. I want my clients to look forward to coming to Rock Your Body. I want them to know that it is a judgment-free zone. Whether it is their very first workout or their 100th, we are here to support them."
